It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new.
But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful.
There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power.

Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read."

The Last Time I Saw Paris

My husband and I were living in Florida .. we were not loving it.
He was a bit antsy with not that much to do and the heat and humidity and bugs and sun .. yes, my darling New Yorker, the sun shines every day of the year in Florida.

Too bad we were both told by our dermatologists to Stay out of the sun !!

We used to go to London then Paris every year in the fall.
Our son was living in Japan.
He made plans to come to Paris first, stay with us then to Florida to visit longer.
That was some great trip he had ! Some great visit we had !
We made our plans, we packed and flew away to Paris .. we rented an apartment from Paris Perfect and settled in with rue Cler downstairs and the Eiffel Tower twinkling outside our windows ... a short walk of a couple of blocks from our apartment.

One night we walked to the Eiffel, just stood there and stared at it ... how unbelievable it really is.
The size, the scope of it .. the beauty and the lights, sure but when it was built .. the planning, the construction ... the result !

We bought our food in the markets each day .. we wandered the Marais and the museums, the Rodin, the Louvre , of course! and my favorite, always, the D'Orsay.

We walked through  the Marais, we visited the Rodin Museum, the shops and little streets that wind and twist and got lost a dozen times making it all the more fun and interesting.

Then it was time to go home.
We had no idea that it would be the last time we would be in Paris together .. of course there were years of fun and travel and exploring, visiting Buenos Aires instead of Paris one year, changed everything. The "Paris of South America ".
and then the new chapter began ..

  1. I lived in Florida for a while and I didn't like it there so much, either. I missed four seasons. How long did you stay in Paris? It sounds nice to rent the apartment and "live" there for a while. I would love to visit Paris of South America some day :-)

  2. We were there multiple times but always stayed in the Hotel Lutece.
When our son was going to meet us there, we rented the apartment.
We usually always stayed 2 weeks wherever we went ..
